Carmen is an undergraduate Geography student working in the BBERG laboratory on research related to Arctic char. She has been involved in laboratory and community participation and engagement research and activities. This includes preparing char samples for stable isotope, colour, and plastics composition as well as designing surveys and community engagement materials to help communicate the ongoing research. The community engagement with this work at this stage, where we have some results, will continue to increase connectivity between scientific and Inuit Knowledge and insights for the betterment of our overall understanding of Arctic char ecology in Nunatsiavut. She is also hopeful that this ongoing work will further improve and develop community-led methodologies for sustainable monitoring of char in Nunatsiavut.
