About ME

I'm a research scientist in geophysics in the department of Earth Sciences at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's. I am an applied seismologist with a strong geological background. In my research, I have primarily employed controlled-source seismic methods (2-D, 3-D, land, marine, reflection, refraction) to investigate Earth science problems at a variety of scales: from lithospheric-scale projects for tectonic studies to upper crustal studies related to resources and shallow processes. My seismic expertise spans the gamut from data processing and modelling to interpretation, aided by geological and well data. To complement my seismic research, I have also published widely on the topic of 3-D inversion of gravity data for crustal and basin studies and am establishing myself as a regional expert on the rifting evolution of the North Atlantic Ocean.

A bit of history...

I was born and raised in

Montreal by my french-

canadian mother, Margot,

and my british father, Barry.

My early schooling took place

at École Joseph-Henrico in

Baie d'Urfé where I did my

elementary education in

french. For high school, I

attended an english private

girls school, Queen of Angels

Academy. It was at Queen of

Angels Academy that I first got my inkling for science. After completing high school, I attended John Abbott College (CEGEP) where I received a college studies diploma in Pure and Applied Sciences. With this under my belt, I set off for  McGill University to study for a degree in geophysics which I completed in 1997. In 1999, I completed my M.Sc. in seismology in the department of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. In 2004, I also completed my Ph.D. in geophysics at UBC. I've been living in Newfoundland since June 2005.
