KRAFLA

The lava flows from the Krafla fissure eruption of 1984 were our next stop. Walking towards the Krafla fissure over older lava flows did not prepare us for how spectacular this stop would be. Touted as Iceland's most dangerous tourist attraction, the still steaming lava flows bear witness to just how volcanically active the region is.
