ECORD Summer School Scholarships

The European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) will sponsor 10 to 15 scholarships to allow outstanding young scientists to attend one of the ECORD Summer Schools. The scholarships will contribute to costs of registration, travel, subsistence and/or accommodation at the schools. The scholarships are open to young scientists based in ECORD countries. Preference will be given to PhD students or early career post-doctoral research scientists.

Application deadline: 30 April 2018

Please see the ESSAC website for more information and application instructions/templates.

IMPORTANT: Application for an ECORD Scholarship is independent of the application and registration process to an ECORD Summer School.

ECORD Research Grants

The European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) is sponsoring merit-based awards for outstanding young scientists to conduct innovative research related to the International Ocean Discovery Program. The research may be directed toward the objectives of upcoming or past DSDP/ODP/IODP expeditions, using core material and/or data.

The ECORD Grants will cover travel and lab expenses or other approved costs related to the study. Studies should be conducted in a laboratory/institution other than the applicant’s home institution and should promote new collaborations and/or the acquisition of new scientific expertise. Grants will not typically exceed 3000 €. Applicants should be enrolled in either a PhD or “early-career”, post-doctoral research programme at any institution from an ECORD country.

Deadline to apply: The 2018 deadline is 30 January 2018.

Please see the ESSAC website for more information.
